– Less than 1,000 km on rebuilt motor

Our customer offers for sale this restored 1950 Jaguar MK V Cabriolet. The car was originally built in California and later restored in Spain. It is powered by a 3,500 cc 6-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a manual transmission. Upgraded with a custom competition crankshaft, modern carburetors, and a high-performance exhaust, the engine delivers an estimated 30% more power than the original spec. Additionally, the car has disc brakes on the front wheels, electric power steering, and a hydraulic clutch, blending classic design with modern driving performance. This Jaguar has been driven just over 5,000 km after the restoration, with less than 1,000 km on the upgraded engine, which is still in its break-in period. Some technical work after the break-in periode is needed to fully enjoy driving this Jaguar.
The exterior of this Jaguar contains a factory-original paintjob with minimal signs of use. The interior has been restored with leather upholstery and thermal insulation, making the cabin both luxurious and comfortable. The car has a valid inspection.
The Jaguar MK V was introduced in 1948 as a luxury car aimed at both the upper-middle class and driving enthusiasts who wanted something elegant but sporty. This post-war model was one of the first to use independent front suspension, setting a new standard for handling in the luxury car segment. The MK V was available as both a saloon and a cabriolet, with the latter being especially prized for its open-air driving experience. Jaguar’s decision to offer a large 3.5L engine made the MK V stand out in its class, providing substantial power compared to many of its competitors. The car’s mix of pre-war styling cues, such as sweeping fenders and a bold front grille, combined with more modern engineering like the independent suspension, made it a unique offering during its time.
This particular Jaguar MK V stands apart thanks to its high-performance engine upgrades. The work done on the motor, crankshaft, and exhaust not only enhances the car’s power but also ensures that it can run on modern fuels and oils, making it more practical for today’s roads. The addition of electric power steering and improved braking systems means that while this MK V retains its classic charm, it’s also significantly easier to drive than many vehicles of its era.
