1955 MERCEDES-BENZ 300 SC COUPE
The highly exclusive Mercedes-Benz 300 “Adenauer” series was the standard-bearer for European luxury automobiles throughout the 1950s. Led by the four-door sedan and Cabriolet D models, the range was soon enhanced with the sports-touring 300 S version aimed at the owner-driver, offered in Coupe, Cabriolet, or Roadster form, and powered by an enhanced triple-carburetor inline-six. In 1955, the 300 Sc marked the ultimate touring version of the Adenauer line, with exotic Bosch mechanical fuel injection, giving outstanding performance without sacrificing the refinement and quality that defined Mercedes-Benz’s acclaimed flagship.
This is one of just 98 Sc Coupes produced, from a total of 200 fuel-injected cars built across three body styles. A gorgeous example, it features a well-maintained restoration by a noted Adenauer specialist, Charles Brahms of Irvine, California. Beautifully finished as-delivered in DB320 dark blue over 955 gray leather trim, it features original options including Becker Mexico radio and automatic antenna. Notably, this car’s engine, chassis, and body numbers match the data card. Mechanically, the car is correct and in generally good order, though it has been on static display for an extended period, and some minor recommissioning is required.
One of the finest and most exclusive luxury touring cars of the era, prime for enjoyment. This vehicle just arrived, and a full description is coming soon. Please contact Hyman Ltd for more details.
