This exceptional Healey 100/6 (BN/6) was manufactured 1958, exported to South Africa and registered in 1959 where it remained and was subsequently restored. In the latter part of 2019, (as a restored car) it was imported back home and registered here in 2020. The importer and last registered UK keeper is known to us and until recently this car formed part of his collection.
The Austin-Healey 100 was built by the British Motor Corporation, (BMC). The '100' name comes from Donald Healey who selected the name from the car's ability to reach 100mph. The final '100' models, 1956's 'BN4' (2+2 seats) and 1958's 'BN6' (2 seats) were six-cylinder 100-Six cars.
Boasting manual gearbox with overdrive, this desirable two-seater is UK registered and has been improved by fitting a BN7 3.0 litre C Series engine. Braking has been up-rated to disc brakes at the front. Boasting original factory side screens, tonneau, Chrome wire wheels with new Michelin tyres and Kenlowe fan upgrade.
During transit there was some paint deterioration, and this was attended to with a full same colour re-spray later in 2020.
Although little early history is available, we have had the opportunity to fully inspect the car and found it extremely solid and straight in all respects, helped no doubt by many years in a warm dry climate. Finished in JLR Corris Grey metallic with clean and smart Ox-blood interior which shows a good patina. A full re-commissioning mechanical inspection is being carried in our workshops bringing this Healey into fine fettle. Naturally a list of work carried out will be available to potential purchasers.
Although age-exempt we offer a fresh MoT at sale if required.
In summary, a desirable model with arguably the most desirable engine, this example will deliver many more years of driving pleasure; with its classic good looks and strong performance, one of the most sought after of the 100/6 series and this example drives superbly, looks fabulous and sounds like a 1950’s British sports car should.
