This car is 101 years old and looks better than most of us!

The Model T automobile was built by the Ford Motor Company from 1908 until 1927. Conceived by Henry Ford as practical, affordable transportation for the common man, it quickly became prized for its low cost, durability, versatility, and ease of maintenance. It was the earliest effort to make a car that most people could actually buy.

Modern cars were first built in 1885 in Germany by Karl Benz, and the first American cars in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1893 by Charles and Frank Duryea. But just because they were available didn’t mean that ordinary people could afford them.

The Model T was actually affordable and it became so popular at one point that a majority of Americans owned one, directly helping rural Americans become more connected with the rest of the country and leading to the numbered highway system. The manufacturing needs of the Model T went hand in hand with Ford’s revolutionary modernisation of the manufacturing process.

This is a NZ New, Colonial Built Body likely to have been assembled in Dunedin, but could have also been Christchurch (we're uncertain of this).
We do not know its history but we know that it was restored at some point in Christchurch and had work done on it by Brian Moir, who carried out brake and steering work among other work including engine tuning and wiring.
Body wise, it was also restored at some point and painted yellow, as can be seen from photos, then painted black again.
We purchased this in November 2019.Previous owner purchased from a deceased estate in Oamaru circa 13 years ago.
Mechanically sound and car is in very good working condition.
Motor is good and healthy - nice and pleasant to drive.
Body was good when we bought it but paint rough. Since then, we pulled it apart, stripped it down to bare metal and professionally repainted it in its original black colour.
Car now looks stunning with brand new paint job.
Wood is in excellent order.
Wheels and tires in very good order
Structurally sound - no rust anywhere.
Soft Top is in very good order - so is upholstery.
Spare wheel available.
Original side curtains available but need restoration - we can offer to restore for a Buyer and this can be quoted separately.
Car needs compliance, as rego is currently dead but is still on black plates Reg#: DR2874. Price advertised here is for the car as is (i.e.: uncomplied). We can offer to comply, register and put a new WOF for a Buyer and this can be quoted seperately. Its a relatively simple process and all this can be negotiated / discussed with interested parties.
The production of the Model T was preceded by eight car models through which Ford developed various aspects that would eventually come together as the Model T.

More than 15 Million Model T's were produced.
